Is it broken? Probably not. Batteries left in a safe for months drain or leak, and many keypads light up but no longer have the power to move the bolt. New batteries first; many safes have contacts outside for exactly this. ### A guest set a code in the holiday flat safe and left. Can you open it? Yes. The owner or the agency shows the flat is theirs, the safe is opened, and it is reset to its factory code or to one you choose. ### The villa came with a safe and nobody gave us the code. Have the deeds or the purchase contract to hand, and a photo of the safe’s front and label. It is opened, and you set a new code yourself. ### Is it worth fixing a small safe to the floor? Yes. A light safe that is not fixed down can be carried out under an arm.
