Where keys go missing on it, what to check first, and when to stop searching and ring. 16 October 2026 · 4 min read The walk to the Faro de l’Albir is a popular one. The asphalt road starts at the Serra Gelada information point on Camí Vell del Far, is closed to traffic, and runs along the cliffs to the lighthouse: roughly five kilometres return, with about a hundred metres of climbing. A local newspaper counted around a thousand users a day on it. It is a good walk to do with nothing in your hands, which is exactly how keys get left on a bench, dropped with a jacket or handed to whoever was carrying the bag. ## Before you walk back up the path 1. **Check every pocket, twice,** including the small ones on running shorts and the phone case. 2. **Ask the group.** Keys travel: into a partner’s bag, a child’s pocket, the buggy basket. 3. **Check the car,** if you came by car. If you decide to walk back, go at once: the path is busy, and the sooner the better. ## If they are gone Stop searching once you have retraced the obvious places. An hour on the cliffs costs more than a locksmith, and the door does not get easier to open after dark. - Walk or drive back to the house. The locksmith meets you there, not on the path. - Ring, say where the house is (the part of Albir and the street), and that the keys are lost, not locked inside. - If the keys had the address on them, ask for the cylinder to be changed after the door is opened. A locked one opens through the cylinder. Either way, you are told which before anyone starts, and the price is agreed first.
